Trivia Night

On Tuesday evening, we hosted our annual GWISE Trivia Night. As the event was during spring break, it was a great time to gather and have a fun, relaxing evening. We provided Chipotle burritos, chips, and drinks for dinner. Over 30 members joined, many of which were our fellow WISEguys! 6 teams battled 7 rounds of trivia questions, with topics including science history, women in STEM, Boston, and science fiction.

Some of the trivia highlights included very creative responses to some challenging questions. When asked about “which year was recorded as the warmest in history, and why”, one team responded “2014, because of Beyonce” (obviously incorrect, but pretty hilarious nonetheless). Some questions led to heated debates, including one between several Harry Potter book experts about “which weapon was used most often to destroy horcruxes” (we ended up accepting multiple answers including Basilisk poison and the Sword of Gryffindor). We also learned some fun new facts, including that Boston University was originally founded in the state of Vermont!

During intermission, we spent some time playing the “Would you rather” activity that we introduced a few weeks ago at our Bar Louie Restaurant Social. Once again, the game was a hit! Some of the favorite questions included “Would you rather have to always wear clown makeup or always wear clown clothes?” and “Would you rather be in the papers for winning the Nobel Prize or saving someone’s life?” Overall, in addition to learning science and general trivia, everyone learned something new about their friends and fellow GWISE members.

Congratulations to this years’ Trivia winners: Team Brain Lasers! They earned some great prizes including BU hats, games, and brainteasers. We hope those who joined us had a great time, and hope to see you again next year!

Below are a couple of pictures from the event! (Team Brain Lasers was the winning team, and Sarabeth helped create all of our fabulous trivia questions) More pictures can be found on our Flickr.
